In what town do you Bear Down?

Put your town on the map!  Email the name of the town where you bear down to our staff at beardown2007@gmail.com, and we’ll add it to our Bear Down Town List below.  Our goal is to get at least one town for every point the Bears score this season, which we’re hoping is over 400.

Bear Down Town List Rules

  1. You can only submit a town if you bear down there.  If you bear down in more than one town (say, at home and at a friend’s house), you can submit both towns – that’s our gift to you.
  2. Each town can only be listed once.  So if someone beats you to the punch, you lose.

  3. Our staff reserves the right to refuse the posting of, or remove from the list without notification, any town at any time for any reason.  Essentially we’re leaving ourselves an out in case we learn you’re part of an evil plot created by rival blogs who are out to get us.

  4. If you’re caught cheating, your town will be removed from the list.  Cheating is defined as either, a) submitting a town that is not one in which you bear down, or b) supporting another NFL team in that town.

  5. If you miss Mike Brown, dress like a clown, or wear a bridal gown in the town where you bear down, or if your town is a proper noun or hosts a triple crown, then hands down, we’ll turn that frown upside down, make your town renown, and add it to the Bear Down Town List, and we’re not messing around.  Now get down to that funky sound, and submit your town today.

I truly BEAR DOWN in Greenfield, WI.

Tough to be a HUGE BEARS FAN here in the cheese (y) state. I can’t stand the Green and MOLD. I would like to see Urlacher pick up #4 and slam him to the ground. Ala one GB slacker did to our McMann in the 80s. I hope the BEARS can Bear down and run the table from here on out.
Bleeding internally Navy Blue and Orange. In Wisconsin.

    Jeff,
You are a credit to the Super Fan nation. Keep those colors flying high, watch you back, and don’t be afraid to use force when necessary. And always remember – if you break someone’s clavicle, that’s a GOOD thing.

your three nephews LOVE rule #5!

I have to question if Mr. Greenfield, WI is a true Bear fan? McMann? What’s next Ditcka? THis is an insult to #9 (or is it #10) and the rest of the greatest team ever. I suggest this ‘fan’ be suspended fromt the list until he can spell (at minimum), the first and last names of the entire 1985 (1986 really) starting lineup.

  5. bd07 Editor Says:

    Jon,

Thanks for your comment. And wow, I have to admit I have mixed emotions on this one.

While I agree that a fan should know how to spell the greatest professional athlete of all time’s name (James Robert McMahon), it is a challenging name to spell. Even I forget sometimes whether it’s MacMahon or McMahon, and I don’t know any one else with either spelling (to help me remember).

Additionally, we cannot expect all bloggers to run spelling and grammar checks when they post comments. That’s not what a blog is about. It would simply be unfair to those posting comments, as well as limit the number of submissions made.

While you live outside of the U.S. (Cleveland), this is America. And this is a blog where freedom of speech is encouraged and protected. If we have to accept a spelling ererr now and again, or a misplaced, comma, or, two, it is a small price to pay for the benefits of the free sharing of Bear knowledge.

So while I did cringe at first when I saw the spelling, I decided to allow it, and will continue to do so. I champion this fan for the crap he has to eat living in Wynskonson, and for his commitment to the Bears and the blog.

    Bear Down,
